He is the host and producer of “Verbally Committed” – a CBS radio show on Washington D.C.’s 106.7 The Fan. Koubaroulis is a featured blogger with Sports Illustrated. He is also a Play-by-Play voice with the Fairfax Sports Network and the Associate Producer and host of the hour-long broadcast featuring local sports in the DC Metro area, "The Fairfax Sports Report." Koubaroulis has also worked as the Senior Sports Editor of The Connection Newspapers, a chain of 18 publications in the Washington D.C. metro area, where he won 18 Virginia Press Association Awards. With more than 300 high schools in Washington D.C.’s metro area – D.C., Maryland and Virginia – the show gives a voice to the area’s top recruits, coaches, players and fans through interviews, commentary and calls from fans.
The show is produced and hosted by B.J. Koubaroulis and Stephen Ball, both with long time connections and experience working in the Washington media and in particular high school sports.
Koubaroulis is a sports contributor at The Washington Post, covering high school football, basketball, baseball, soccer and lacrosse and is also an active blogger at Washingtonpost.com for recruiting news and more. He is also the Play-by-Play voice for high school and college sports for Verizon FIOS1 sports television.
Stephen Ball is a sports contributor for The Washington Post and associate producer of The Mike Wise Show on 106.7 The Fan. He has covered high school sports, the NFL and the NHL for The Post. He hosted a weekly sports radio show on WGMU and interned at ESPN980.

GU's game with Rutgers will be tape-delayed on Verizion FiOS1 on three different occasions.

Washington, D.C. - The Saturday, April 28 men's lacrosse game featuring No. 4 Georgetown and Rutgers will be televised by Verizon FiOS1 and will be broadcast tape-delayed three different times, Wednesday, May 2 at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m. and then again on Saturday, May 5 at 8 p.m. BJ Koubaroulis and former Hoya All American Andy Corno will be calling the action.
Two televised Georgetown University women's lacrosse games will be re-broadcast on the new Verizon FiOS1 channel over the next few days.
The Hoyas' 15-9 victory over George Washington will be broadcast on Tuesday, April 24 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at 3 p.m and Sunday, April 29 at 10 am.
BJ Koubaroulis and former GU standout Sarah Oliphant will be calling the action.
Additionally, Georgetown's 15-9 win over BIG EAST rival Connecticut will be shown on Thursday April 26 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 29 at 8 p.m. Koubaroulis and former GU head coach Kim Simons will be calling the game from the booth.
Verizon FiOS is available in the DC metro area which encompasses Fairfax, Loudoun and Arlington counties in Virginia and selected parts of Prince George County in Maryland.
After the two wins over George Washington and Connecticut, the Hoyas (9-6) won their seventh straight BIG EAST regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming inaugural BIG EAST Championship. The Hoyas will take on No. 4 seed Notre Dame on Friday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.

FSN broadens its web coverage with the addition of four sports writers and guest commentary.
The Fairfax Sports Network has struck a deal with four local sports writers to increase its coverage of high school and local sports in the Washington D.C. Metro area.
Washington Post Preps Writer B.J. Koubaroulis, Fairfax County Times Sports Editor Dave Buschenfeldt and Connection Newspapers Sports Editors John Marcario and Paul Frommelt have agreed to provide weekly news and notes, columns and analysis of the local sports scene.
Koubaroulis, Associate Producer and Host of the weekly sports broadcast “The Fairfax Sports Report” and Buschenfeldt, Marcario and Frommelt – the show’s expert analysts—will share inside scoops, recruiting details and more at http://www.fairfaxsportsnetwork.com/.
"The addition of the great exclusive articles to Fairfax Sports Network's website by local news reporters adds a new, fresh look to Fairfax Sports Network's website and brings us closer to our goal of going beyond being just the premier source for high school sports on television, but becoming the premier source for high school sports in all media formats," said FSN’s Executive Producer Brian Nern.
Guest commentators will also be added to FSN’s web and television line-up.

The Georgetown University plays its second-straight home game, and the first of three against Ivy League opponents this season, when the team hosts defending Ivy League Champion Yale at the Multi-Sport Field on Saturday, September 15. The Hoyas and the Bulldogs will kick off at 1 p.m. on the Hilltop.

Verizon Fios to Broadcast Mason Athletics

Fairfax, VA—George Mason’s athletics department is getting ready to take a big step forward. They are currently working out a contract that would allow the school to broadcast its athletic events with Verizon Fios.
“They are coming into Fairfax City and we want to be a part of that,” said Mason Athletic Director Tom O’Conner. “We have a contract that we are working through right now for all our sports.”
Verizon Fios currently has broadcasting rights in 15 states including California, New Jersey, New York and Texas. Fios decided to broadcast Mason Athletics because a number of their subscribers come from the Fairfax area.
“George Mason is a great university,” said Orlando Martinez, the Senior Producer for Sports and New Business Development. “We have a huge number of local subscribers in the Fairfax area, so we thought it was a good fit.”
Mason has gained national notoriety after its Cinderella run to the Final Four. However, Martinez said that had nothing to do with the company’s decision to pick up Mason Athletics.
“We would’ve done it anyway,” said Martinez. “It was great that they went [to the Final Four] but we would’ve approached them anyway.”
O’Conner said that both parties approached the other about working out a broadcast deal.
“It was a combination of both,” said O’Conner. “We heard about them and sent out some feelers and they came and we had a series of meetings with them. We do have a contract with them for most of our sports and now we’re just working through some of the nuances of the contract.”
Verizon Fios is intriguing because of its innovative technology. Verizon offers analog service, or POTS. The common model optical network terminal has four analog phone jacks. Verizon does not do anything that would affect or disable the pre-existing copper lines that carried phone service or DSL.
Fios has already made a connection with the Mason family. The companied hired B.J. Koubaroulis to do play by play commentary. Koubaroulis is a 2004 Mason grad, and says he is happy to be back in the Mason family.
“I’m just happy to be involved,” said Koubaroulis. “Having graduated from Mason is a plus for me and I think Mason Athletics is the best kept secret.”
Koubaroulis has a wealth of experience in the local sports scene. As well as having been the Sports Editor for Broadside, Koubaroulis has also worked at the Loudon Times Mirror, and was the Senior Sports Editor at the Connection newspapers from 2005-2007. He has also worked for the Fairfax Sports Network as an on air talent for their weekly high school sports show. Koubaroulis feels both Mason and Verizon will benefit from their new partnership.
“It’s a mutual positive experience,” said Koubaroulis. “It’s an opportunity for Mason to get their name out and it also helps with recruiting. It helps Verizon because they are trying to get their feet on the ground.”
“We feel it is a great opportunity for all of our sports,” said O’Conner.
